BTech admission from 2023 on the basis of class 12 and CET marks

The Maharashtra State Government has drafted new rules for admission to BTech and other professional degree courses from the academic session 2023-24. As per the report, beginning in 2023, class 12 marks will also be considered for admission to BTech and other courses along with MHT CET scores. The weightage of class 12 and CET marks will be equal.

Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant said, "After a discussion with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, it has been decided that now equal weightage will be given to the CET marks and Class 12 marks. This will help students in building a good base with Class 12 studies. Under the present system, students are focusing only on the CET."

Further, the CET Cell is also proposing to conduct Maharashtra CET two times a year, instead of one. This is being proposed along the lines of the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Main as the paper is also held in a way that gives students more than one attempt. The final decision on the number of attempts and new criteria for admission will be notified soon on the official website.

The new admission rules, when implemented will only be applicable for admission from the academic session 2023-24 and onwards. The admission to all courses for the current admission cycle, 2022-23 will be on the basis of prevailing admission policies.
