22 students of session 2020-21 and 18 students of session 2021-22 have been found to have used fake documents to take admission

The Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology Gorakhpur has cancelled admission of as many as 40 B.Tech students over forging documents. The University administration has also decided to constitute a three-member committee to fix the responsibility of officers and employees who are involved or found negligent in leading to the fraud.

There are also indications of the involvement of some big racket in this admission forgery. The matter came to the notice of the MMMUT administration in the first week of September. After this, the investigation was started at many levels by taking all the papers in their possession, which unearthed the admission racket. Fake allotment letters were issued to these students in the name of Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. According to some of the officials of the university, admission was given to a large number of fake students who were left out of the merit list in the counselling process.

In the investigation so far, 22 students of session 2020-21 and 18 students of session 2021-22 have been found to have used fake documents to take admission. As per reports, the committee probing three sessions has handed over the investigation report of two sessions. The investigation of the third season is going on. Reportedly, this fake admission has happened in B.Tech first-year academic sessions 19-20, 20-21 and 21-22.

MMMUT has 1047 B.Tech engineering seats in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology and Chemical Engineering courses.

Out of these, admission is taken on 90 percent of seats of the students from the state and on 10 percent seat candidates from other states are admitted.
