NIT Calicut: Apply for PhD programme by November 3

For selection to PhD Scheme-I with Institute Fellowship and Scheme-II (Self-sponsored), the candidates must qualify the National level PhD entrance examination and interview conducted by NIT Calicut for admissions to the Ph.D. programme.

NIT Calicut invited applications for PhD programme by November 3, 2023. The list of shortlisted candidates will be out by November 20, 2023.

It is desirable for the applicants to have patents or research publications in reputed conferences/journals. This may be considered a desirable eligibility condition for the candidates seeking admission under this category.

The number of PhD seats under Scheme-I with Institute Fellowship in each Department/School is limited. Hence allocation of PhD seats under Scheme-I with Institute Fellowship will be based on the rank list prepared by the Department/School. Once the Institute fellowships are exhausted, the remaining candidates in the rank list will be considered for PhD admission under Scheme-II (Self-sponsored), provided they have indicated their preference for Scheme-II (Self-sponsored) during the application process / Interview, said official notification.

Those candidates, who have secured Govt. fellowships such as CSIR-UGC JRF/KSCSTE etc., will be selected for PhD admission based on their performance in written test and/or interview conducted by respective Departments/Schools of NIT Calicut. Fellowship for such candidates shall be as per the norms of the funding agency, added the notification.

NIT Calicut released PhD admission under Visvesvaraya Scheme for Electronics & IT : Phase - II Provisional Rank List

The physical reporting and admissions for the selected candidates will be held on October 26, 2023. Email communication will be sent to the selected candidates regarding the procedure for taking admissions. The Rank List is purely provisional. Admission of the candidates to the PhD programme will be subject to satisfying the minimum eligibility criteria and other requirements prescribed for Ph. D. admissions under Visvesvaraya scheme (2023). 

Selected candidates will be required to register in Institute Management System (IMS) Portal and pay the admission fee before Physical reporting on 26 October 2023. Email communication to this effect will be sent to the selected candidates from IMS.
