NIT Calicut Set to Celebrate 64th Foundation Day
The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) will celebrate a landmark occasion with its 64th Institute Foundation Day on September 1, 2024. This annual event, which traces the institute's origins back to its founding as Calicut Regional Engineering College (CREC) in 1961, will showcase NITC's dedication to academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and innovation. Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NITC, will lead the celebrations, emphasising the institute’s enduring legacy and its forward-looking vision.
The celebration will welcome distinguished guests, including Shri Chanchalapathi Dasa, Chairman of ISKCON, Bangalore, who will serve as the chief guest. Shri Dasa will deliver the Prof. Kesava Rao Memorial Lecture, honouring the founder and principal of the institute in 1961. Ravi Raghavan, Managing Director of Bharat Fritz Werner Ltd, will also join as the guest of honour, offering an invited talk to share his insights and experiences.
The celebration will also honour employees who have reached the milestone of 25 years of service at NITC between September 2023 and August 2024. Additionally, proficiency awards will be presented to the children of employees in recognition of their academic achievements. The event will feature the release of the 64th Institute Foundation Day Edition of Sambhashanam, NITC’s official communique.
The day's celebrations will culminate in a cultural evening that highlights the vibrant cultural diversity of the NITC community. The events will be hosted at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium on the West Campus, organized by the Centre for Public Relations, Information, and Media Exchange (C-PRIME) in partnership with the Office of the Dean (International, Alumni, and Corporate Relations).
