SLN College of Engineering student creates history by winning 16 gold medals
Bushra Mateen, a BE civil engineering student, will be awarded at the annual convocation function of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) on March 10, 2022.
Bushra Mateen, a BE civil engineering student of SLN College of Engineering, Raichur, Karnataka, has made the college proud by winning a total of 16 gold medals from the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). She will be honoured at the university’s annual convocation, which is scheduled to be held on March 10, 2022.
First student to have won 16 gold medals: VTU VC
VTU Chancellor Prof Karisiddappa said Bushra Mateen is the first student to have won the highest number of gold medals in the history of the university. He said to date the record of the maximum number of gold medals won had been at 13.
Bengaluru BNM Technological Institution’s Swathi Dayanand from the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, Belagavi KLE Dr MS Sheshagiri Engineering College’s Vivek Bhadrakali from the Mechanical Engineering Department, Bellary Institute of Technology and Management’s Chandana M from the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department have each won seven gold medals.
Addressing a press conference in Karnataka, VTU Chancellor Prof Karisiddappa said the university’s 21st annual convocation programme would be conducted on March 10 on the Jnanasangama campus. He said Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot will preside over the convocation event.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will deliver the convocation address and Minister of Higher Education CN Aswathanarayan will be the chief guest at the event. As many as 57,498 BE/BTech, 902 BArch, 4,362 MBA, 1,387 MTech, 33 PG diploma degrees and 575 PhD degrees will be awarded on the occasion.
