SVNIT Surat Celebrates 20th Convocation with President Droupadi Murmu Awarding Degrees to Graduates
SVNIT Surat Convocation: The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu graced and addressed the 20th convocation of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat. She expressed her happiness at seeing an increasing number of female students in engineering colleges and institutions.
She praised young women for pursuing careers in science and technology and called on all National Institutes of Technology (NITs) to initiate programs, campaigns, or workshops aimed at motivating a greater number of girls to enroll in engineering and technology fields.
Reducing AI Gap in the Country
She stated that technology institutes like SVNIT should work closely with the corporate sector, NGOs and research institutes towards reducing the ‘AI skill gap’ of the country. She added that youth will play an important role in taking India forward in the global race of latest and rapidly changing technologies like AI and machine learning. Big tech companies are also starting new projects to utilize India's AI potentials.
Science as a guide for Technical and Problem Solving Skill
The President emphasised that students should use science to enhance their technical abilities, problem-solving capabilities, and innovative thinking for the purpose of nation-building. It is essential for them not only to develop engineering solutions that meet international benchmarks but also to establish new benchmarks in innovation, efficiency, and inclusivity.
Their focus should extend beyond personal job and career prospects to utilizing their knowledge, alumni connections, and technical expertise to forge new businesses and generate employment opportunities.
