TNEA Counselling 2024: Round 3 Choice Filling Starts at tneaonline.org
DoTE has started the TNEA round 3 choice filling process today. Candidates who had selected upward movement in the previous allotment round, can also check the round 2 provisional allotment on the TNEA login. Check complete details below.
The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) has commenced the round 3 choice filling under TNEA counselling 2024 today, August 23. The TNEA (round 3) choice filling process will be open until August 25 on the official website, tneaonline.org. Candidates who participate in this round can check the tentative seat allotment results on August 26.
In addition to round 3 choice filling, DoTE is releasing the provisional allotment results for round 2 candidates who opted for upward movement. Both the round 2 upward movement allotment and round 3 choice filling can be accessed on the TNEA portal using registered login credentials.

TNEA Round 3 Choice Filling Process
The choice filling process in the third round is similar to that in the previous allotment rounds. The space below mentions the TNEA choice filling process:
1st Step: Visit TNEA website, and login using the registered email ID and password
2nd Step: Choose the preferences considering the cutoffs, and college-course preferences. DoTE will allocate a seat based on the vacancy, candidate’s rank, and community.
3rd Step: Candidates can add or remove choices anytime before the last date. DoTE provides an option to the candidates to download their choices or tro send the same over an email.
4th Step: Choice locking facility is available once the candidate has completed the choice filling based on his/her preferneces. To lock choices, candidates have to complete an OTP verification and click on the burron stating ‘Lock My Choice Lock’
The TNEA round 3 tentative allotment results will be declared on August 26. Candidates will be allowed to confirm the tentative allotment by August 27. Further, the round 3 provisional allotment results will be announced on August 28.

You have to apply on the official TNEA website. Engineering colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu offer admission based on the results of the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions TNEA exam.
- The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Technical Education is in charge of conducting this exam. Following the exam, seats are assigned in engineering colleges through the TNEA counselling process.
- After the results are released, you must register on the official TNEA website in order to take part in TNEA counselling.
- On the TNEA website, you have to fill out the application form, pay the counselling fees, and list your choices. 4. After the application process is finished, the TNEA will publish a list of seats allocated according to ranks.
Q: While applying for TNEA counselling, who are considered the natives of the Tamil Nadu state?
The following candidates are considered the native of Tamil Nadu state:
- Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed their Class VIII to Class XII standard in Tamil Nadu.
- Children of Central Government Employees, irrespective of their nativity, provided their parents or guardians (only if both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years at the time of TNEA application form submission.
- Sons/daughters of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre officers. Children of employees in the Public Sector or Government recognised institutions who at the time of TNEA 2025 application form submission had been working in their organisations for the past five years are also eligible to apply, irrespective of their domicile.
- Other state candidates who have studied from Class VIII to Class XII in Tamil Nadu can also apply for TNEA 2025.
- Tamil Nadu native candidates who have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI and XII standards or their equivalent examinations from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu can also apply for TNEA.
Q: How to fill choices in TNEA counselling?
Check below the steps on how to fill choices in TNEA 2025 counselling: Add/Remove Choices: Candidates have to choose carefully their preferences for getting a seat in a branch in an institution. Based on the availability of seats, rank, and community, candidates will be allotted. Candidates must prepare a list of choices in the order of preference to enter the choices in the order preference correctly and quickly. Choice Entry and Locking of Choices will be available for 3 days, 3rd day until 5.00 pm. All the above processes can be completed from anywhere, from your home if you have a facility or you can avail of the facility of TFC. Choice Entry and Locking of Choices (3 days, 3rd day until 5.00 pm. Adding choices - On the top Navigation Bar, candidates will SEE the link for Add Choices. Using this, candidates can create a list of branches and colleges. This choice list or preference list should finally be in the order of candidate preference. By clicking, add choices, the following screen will appear on the screen.
