Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Inaugurates KV at NIT Rourkela, Lays Foundation for Six Projects

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) at NIT Rourkela in Odisha. Along with this, he laid the foundation stone for six major projects in the presence of BJP Sundargarh MP Jual Oram. These projects include hostels for boys and girls as well as faculty residences.
Apart from this, earlier there were 2 KVs in Rourkela with the inauguration of new one, Rourkela will have third KV. The infrastructural development of Kendriya Vidyalaya-NIT Rourkela will be supported by Coal India.
Construction of hostel at NIT Rourkela
The institute has allocated a 15-acre plot for both the boys' and girls' hostels. three 500-seats girls hostels will be built with an objective to increase the intake of girl students. The remaining area will be kept aside for hostel construction in future. NIT Rourkela has the reservation of a minimum of 20% seats for girls in each of the disciplines.
Among the three girls’ hostels, one of them is funded by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) with Rs. 42.69 crore under their CSR activity. The other girl’s hostel is funded by the Ministry of Education under the EWS scheme fund.
Dharmendra Pradhan said that, “8 thousand students from India and abroad are studying in this educational institution. More than 3 thousand students of Odisha are studying here. Students of NIT Rourkela have become successful citizens abroad. More than 2,500 students will benefit from the projects unveiled."
