Uttar Pradesh to Establish Centers of Excellence, Modernize Trades, and Link Universities with IITs
State government pledges funding support to foster innovation, empower youth, and align technical education with global market demands.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasized the critical need for aligning innovation with rapidly changing technology and global market demands. The Chief Minister announced plans to establish Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in the state’s technical universities to foster innovation and modernization. These centers will focus on integrating new-age skills, modernizing outdated trades, and developing global-market-oriented technologies to prepare the youth for the demands of the future.
The Chief Minister assured that the government is fully committed to supporting this initiative, highlighting that there is no shortage of funds to back innovative projects. He pointed out that while the youth of the state have immense potential and creativity, financial constraints often prevent them from realizing their ideas. To bridge this gap, Adityanath directed universities to make funds available to students and innovators through a structured financial aid system. This, he said, would not only enable new innovations but also contribute significantly to the growth and prestige of Uttar Pradesh.
Adityanath further stressed the importance of a well-planned approach to innovation. He instructed officials to undertake global mapping of market trends, identify emerging trades, and adapt older trades to meet current requirements. Technical universities, he said, should become hubs for modern technology and startups, integrating initiatives like the One District, One Product (ODOP) scheme to connect local entrepreneurship with advanced ecosystems.
The Chief Minister also called for stronger collaboration between the state’s universities and the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). He emphasized that linking these institutions would help foster a culture of research and innovation, allowing Uttar Pradesh to harness the expertise of IITs for state-level technological advancement. Adityanath encouraged universities to motivate students to select trades based on global and national needs, and to actively promote innovative practices.
In tweet, highlighting his vision, UP CM seeks to create a thriving ecosystem where innovation drives economic and social progress. By addressing financial barriers, modernizing educational frameworks, and enhancing institutional collaborations, Uttar Pradesh aims to establish itself as a leader in technical education and innovation, bringing both growth to its youth and global recognition to the state.
