A majority of students are demanding that JEE Main 2023 dates for the session 1 exam be postponed to April citing the less time gap between board exams and JEE Mains. There are also reports that class 12 practical exams of several boards are clashing with JEE Main exam dates 2023.

All India Student's Union ( AISU ) on behalf of those seeking postponement of JEE Mains 2023 exam has submitted a representation to the ministry of education. The union has stated, “It's our kind request to the authorities to consider JEE Aspirants genuine concerns.” Students are taking over to Twitter and other social media platforms demanding the postponement of first session exam to April and second session to May/June.

The NTA released the JEE Mains 2023 notification on December 15. The first attempt of JEE Main 2023 exam is scheduled to be conducted in January and the second session in April.

Will JEE Mains 2023 be postponed?

The Education Ministry and other officials of NTA had earlier announced that the exams in 2023 will be conducted as per the Pre-Covid Calendar to complete the admission process on time. The exams got delayed in 2020, 2021 and 2022 due to the COVID lockdown due to which the admission process got stretched to November, delaying the academic calendar and classes of new batches.

Considering this, JEE Main 2023 exam dates and registration process has been started early this year to allow students register on time and prepare for the exam. Also, sufficient time-gap has been provided between the two JEE Main sessions. Students can use this time to improve their performance in the second attempt.

The registration process for the exam has already started for the first session The last date to fill JEE Main application form session 1 is January 12. JEE Mains form 2023 for session 2 will be released on February 7 and will be available till March 7. Candidates can apply online at jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Number of attempts in JEE Main 2023

Candidates are provided two attempts for JEE Mains 2023. Candidates can attempt in one or both attempts depending on their interests. JEE Mains first attempt 2023 will be conducted on January 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31 while the second session will be held on 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12 April.

Is there any change in JEE Main exam pattern and syllabus?

NTA has not made any changes in the exam pattern and the syllabus of JEE Main 2023. However, as significant change has been made in the admission criteria with the reintroduction of class 12 percentage requirement for admissions. Candidates will now have to secure a minimum 75% marks in class 12 in addition to clearing the JEE Mains exam for admission to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Candidates of SC/ST category need 65% marks.
