Ensure all new medical colleges functional by March 2022 end, says J&K Chief Secy
The Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir has directed the concerned department to make all new Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) functional by March 2022 end.
While reviewing the status of new medical colleges in the Jammu and Kashmir region, Chief Secretary Dr AK Mehta told the concerned department to ensure that all new Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) become functional by March 2022 end. He said to the department that any issue related to manpower, equipment or infrastructure must be addressed by that time.
He was informed that the basic project of the Cancer Institute at SKIMS is complete and operational and a similar institute at GMC, Jammu will also be made functional by March 2022.
The Additional Chief Secretary gave a presentation on the functioning of the Health and Medical Education Department in general and talked about the achievements under various sectors including NHM, Emergency Covid-19 Response Package (ECRP), Medical Colleges, National Ayush Mission, healthcare infrastructure development, National Aids Control Programme and other Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
Dr AK Mehta while discussing ECRP, directed the heads of all Medical Colleges and Health Services to ensure that the status report of all medical equipment such as beds, ventilators, oxygen plants, human resources, and liquid medical oxygen is made available to the concerned authorities within a day so that in case of any issue arises, the alternate arrangement can be made on time.
He also emphasised improving the standard of healthcare services in the region so that the patients can get treatment equivalent to the level one gets in cities like Mumbai and Chandigarh.
