FORDA writes to Delhi Health Minister about the punitive action against resident doctors
The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has written to the Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain and highlighted the punitive action taken against the resident doctors of Delhi.
Despite the assurances from the government that there will not be any punitive action taken against the resident doctors participating in the nationwide strike to expedite NEET PG 2021 counselling, reports have emerged that the actions were taken against them in the government medical colleges in Delhi.
Now, the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has written to the Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain and requested him to take a note of the punitive actions taken against the doctors and take the necessary action at the earliest.
FORDA has tweeted, "Requesting Hon’ble @SatyendarJain Sir to take note of punitive action taken against #ResidentDoctors of certain Delhi Government Hospital, namely #GTBHospital, who took part in the nationwide agitation to #ExpediteNEETPGCounselling2021 @ArvindKejriwal @dr_arunkgupta @ANI @ndtv"
The letter reads, "This was an agitation to rejuvenate the healthcare sector of the nation suffering from shortage of adequate workforce of Resident Doctors & received tremendous support from multiple sections of the society. We are extremely grateful to the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi who also extended his valuable support to the agitation of Resident Doctors for the genuine cause. Following meeting with Hon'ble Union Health Minister, the agitation was finally called off on 31st December, 2021."
"During the meeting, along with the assurance of expediting the Counselling & subsequent Admission process, Hon'ble Union Minister also assured that no punitive or disciplinary action will be taken by Hospital authorities against any Resident Doctor who took part in the agitation. However, it is extremely unfortunate that Resident Doctors of certain Delhi Government Hospital, notably, UCMS & GTB Hospital have been marked Absent during the aforementioned period of agitation & their salaries/stipends have been deducted," the letter added.
