Future of Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur medical colleges lies in hands of new Punjab govt

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to lay the foundation stone of multiple projects in Punjab on January 5, 2022, including two new medical colleges at Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur. These projects are worth over INR 42,750 crore. However, he could not do so due to the security breach during his visit to Punjab and he returned without laying the foundation stones.

Now, the future of these colleges depends on the decisions of the new Punjab government led by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). “Now, the new government has to take the call on how to speed up the projects. To date, there is no word on the construction of the two colleges for which the tendering process has already been done. As the foundation stones have not been laid, there is confusion over starting the work,” a senior functionary of the medical education department said, as reported by Hindustan Times.
