Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang has said that Bhopal’s Gandhi Medical College will start teaching three subjects of MBBS in Hindi from April 2022, these subjects are - Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry.

Bhopal's Gandhi Medical College to start MBBS in Hindi

Ever since the last year's Hindi Diwas celebration, the Madhya Pradesh government was trying to start a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course in India's mother tongue Hindi. Despite National Medical Commission's (NMC) statement earlier that MBBS in Hindi is not feasible, the state government was making all efforts to start it as soon as possible. Now, Education Minister Vishwas Sarang has confirmed that Bhopal’s Gandhi Medical College will start teaching three subjects of MBBS in Hindi from April 2022, these subjects are - Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry.

He said “MBBS will be taught in Hindi medium. Bhopal’s Gandhi Medical College to start offering MBBS course in Hindi from April.”

“Various researches have also shown that learning in mother tongue is beneficial and has better results,” the Minister added, as reported by The Print.

MBBS Course in Hindi 

As reported earlier, the state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had said during the Republic Day celebration that the state would soon start an MBBS course in Hindi. 

The medical education minister was in talks with the subject experts to get MBBS books prepared in Hindi for first-year students. As per reports, in the initial phases, the students who opt for MBBS in Hindi will be taught in English and Hindi for two months.

A 14-member committee was established to prepare the work plan for MBBS Hindi Curriculum. The committee was headed by Medical Education Director Dr Jiten Shukla.
