Gujarat schools reopen for Classes 1 to 5 from today!

The state commenced offline classes for 6 to 8 on September 2 with a 50% capacity. Meanwhile, schools have also been directed to continue online classes along with offline classes and kept the attendance of students optional.

Gujarat School Reopening: The government of Gujarat allowed the reopening of schools for Classes 1 to 5 from November 22. The announcement regarding the commencement of offline classes has been made after analyzing a decline in active COVID-19 cases in the state, state Education Minister Jitu Vaghani said. Meanwhile, the schools have received directions from the government to make arrangements following COVID protocol and impose subsequent restrictions. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, i.e. March 2020, this will be for the first time that students from Classes 1 to 5 will be attending schools.

While addressing the media, the minister announced that offline classes for students of Classes 1 to 5 will resume post (Diwali) vacation, i.e. on 22 November. Students would require written consent from parents for attending offline classes in schools. The minister said that students and staff members have to follow the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) same as applied for other classes where offline education is resumed.

Stating the SOPs must be strictly adhered to by students and staff members both, the state education minister said that government will lay provisions to ensure that classes resume hassle-free.

In the month of July, the Gujarat government reopened schools for Class 12, colleges, and technical institutions amid the declining cases of the novel coronavirus.
