On Thursday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur visited the ambitious medical project Radhakrishnan Government Medical College (RKGMC) in Hamirpur, which is under construction and directed the concerned authorities to ensure time-bound completion of the project.

Later, he interacted with the media and said, "This 250-bed medical college and hospital is slated to be completed by August this year," as reported by Hindustan Times. Upon completion, RKGMC will provide modern healthcare facilities to people of the region, he added.

Thakur also said that the construction of three medical colleges in Hamirpur, Chamba and Nahan are going on in full swing and the authorities are trying to complete the work of all these colleges by September.

He also said that during his recent visit to Delhi he had met and urged Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to provide more funds for these projects, so the completion can be on time.

He also said on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may inaugurate the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bilaspur in June. The outpatient department of AIIMS, Bilaspur was inaugurated by BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda in December last year. He said that one private medical college and six government medical colleges are functional in the state.
