Haryana orders closure of offline academic activity in colleges, universities

Colleges and universities have been asked to move to online classes by faculty from institutions as per the timetable.

Due to increasing cases of COVID-19 and its new variant Omicron Haryana government has issued an order for closure of all colleges and universities in the state till January 12. Students will not be attending offline classes during this period.

Principal Secretary to the Government Haryana Higher Education Department has issued a letter to vice-chancellors of all the state and private universities in the state and Principals of aided and self-financing colleges to close all offline academic activities.

However, as per the order staff members will continue to attend their work from the institution premises. The Order reads: “all universities and colleges (state/government or private) to remain closed till 12th January for students. Staff members to attend colleges/universities as usual & online classes will take place regularly.”

The instruction states that the staff shall attend colleges and universities as usual and online classes will be taken by faculty from institutions as per the timetable. Principals will ensure that the classes are held online regularly.

It has also instructed that COVID protocol shall be adhered to in toto by staff including wearing of masks and vaccination.

Recruitment exams and entrance exams will be continued to be held in Universities. Students are allowed to remain in hostels subject to strict observance of COVID appropriate behavioural norms and social distancing.
