An incident of harassment has emerged at a school in Uttar Pradesh's Agra. A school principal has alleged harassment at the hands of Muslim teachers over students not wearing hijab inside school premises. According to the principal, the teachers are asking Muslim students to wear hijab to school, which contravenes the school dress code. She alleged that the teachers harassed her when she was trying to enforce the dress code.

As the video went viral, certain Hindu outfits reached the school on Friday and demanded that hijab should not be allowed in school. The school management has taken note of the incident.

According to India Today, the principal, Mamta Dixit, told that at the heart of the issue is her post and some Muslim teachers are trying to make her quit the post so that they can take over. She further alleged that a complaint has been filed against her in the education department and even to the chief minister by the teachers who are "using Muslim students for their personal gains".

"There are about 200 Muslim girl students in the school and they are all against me now over the hijab issue," Dixit said.

The local MLA has talked to the district administration and education department officials and asked for a quick resolution of the hijab dispute while ensuring that peaceful atmosphere of the school is not disturbed.

An inquiry has been ordered by RP Sharma, Joint Director (Education) Agra into the matter. Whoever is found guilty will be punished, he said.

However, a school teacher on the condition of anonymity told India Today that the principal is trying to create a communal atmosphere using different tactics.
