In mid-March, schools, colleges, and other educational institutions across the country were closed due to coronavirus followed by nationwide lockdown to contain the spread. All the state Boards including CBSE, ICSE also suspended the Board exam because of this. After a gap of more than three months, CBSE Board Exam 2020 will be conducted for CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th from July 1. CISCE will also be conducting ICSE (Class 10) Board Exams 2020 and ISC (Class 12) board exams 2020 from July 2. However, parents have strongly condemned the decision to conduct the exam when the number of coronavirus cases is rising in the country.
This lockdown has not impacted just the Board exams but also the overall academic session. "Held a review meeting with Smt. Anita Karwal, Secretary of School Education & Literacy Department at @HRDMinistry, Manoj Ahuja, Chairman at @cbseindia29 (CBSE), and Vineet Joshi, Chairman at @DG_NTA (National Testing Agency) to discuss the present education scenario," tweeted Union HRD Minister Nishank.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) also said that schools, colleges, educational/training/coaching institutions will be opened after consultation with States and UTs during Phase II of Unlock1.
MHA said that based on the feedback of States and UTs, a decision on the re-opening of these institutions will be taken in July.
"In Phase II, schools, colleges, educational/training/ coaching institutions, etc., will be opened after consultations with States and UTs. State Governments/UT administrations are being advised to hold consultations at the institution level with parents and other stakeholders. Based on the feedback, a decision on the re-opening of these institutions will be taken in the month of July. Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) will prepare SOP for these institutions," said the MHA.
Earlier, the Union HRD Minister had said that the schools will be opened once the Board exams are over. He also announced that both the CBSE 10th Result 2020 and CBSE 12th Result 2020 will be declared by August 15. These include the results of previous exams and the results of examinations in July.
