After DU, Braj University asks colleges to keep Classrooms, Labs open till 8 PM
Last week, Delhi University asked all its affiliated colleges and departments to keep their classrooms and laboratories open from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M. on all working days to ensure optimum utilisation of resources.
Following the footsteps of the University of Delhi, other universities across the country are also issuing notifications regarding keeping their classrooms, labs, libraries and other resources open from 8 AM to 8 PM on all working days for optimum utilization of resources.
University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman, Prof M Jagadesh Kumar has also urged more higher education institutions to follow Delhi University's example of keeping their classrooms, laboratories, and other resources open from 8 am to 8 pm on all working days to ensure optimum utilization of resources.
Last week, Delhi University asked all its affiliated colleges and departments to keep their classrooms and laboratories open from 8 am to 8 pm on all working days to ensure optimum utilisation of resources.
Following DU, the Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Surajmal Brij University from Bharatpur, Rajasthan has issued a circular to principals of all its affiliated colleges of Bharatpur and Dholpur districts stating that for optimum utilization of resources, the classrooms and laboratory facilities to be opened at least from 08:00 A.M. to 08:00 P.M. on all working days.
On January 11 this year, the UGC requested the Central Universities and HEls to take appropriate measures for the implementation of the UGC Guidelines for Optimal Utilization of Resources Available in Central 'Universities/ Higher Educational Institutions and extend the benefits to the UG/PG students and researchers.
DU has also asked the colleges and departments to submit an action taken report by May 31. A university official said there was no such mandate earlier.
UGC Chairman writes: “Let the students of each other institutions use such resources as much as possible by developing appropriate protocols for such usage. The foremost beneficiaries of this would be our students.”
