Allahabad University discontinues 4 UG courses; launches 2 five yr integrated programme

The online admission process for various undergraduate and postgraduate courses has begun at Allahabad University.

The University of Allahabad has discontinued four undergraduate courses this year and is launching two new programmes from the upcoming academic session. The university is starting two new five years integrated courses from the upcoming academic session.

As per reports, due to lack of interest among students, Allahabad University has done away with some of the courses run under the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) of AU. The university has also renamed B.Voc. in Media Studies to B.Voc. in Media Production.

AU has decided to stop admitting students in courses such as B.Voc. in Fashion Design and Technology, Diploma in Fashion Design, MSc Nutrition Science, M.Voc. in Fashion Design and Technology. The students who are already studying these courses at the university will graduate with their degrees.

According to a senior official of the university the decision to close down the four courses taken due to lack of students interest in these courses, “It was running 13 courses under the IPS till last year, while this year the number of courses offered under this department has been reduced to 11,” he said.

Admission at AU

Allahabad University has invited applications for various undergraduate and postgraduate courses under different departments. Under the IPS department, it has invited applications from candidates for courses such as BA in Media Studies, Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), B.Voc. in Food Processing and Technology, BVoc in Media Production, BA in Fashion Design and Technology, MSc Food Technology, M.Voc. in Media Studies, Master of Computer Application (MCA), PG Diploma in Computer Application (PDDCA).

It has also invited applications for two five year integrated programmes, one in Food Technology, second Integrated BCA-MCA in Data Science Course.
