AMU issues show-cause notice to Prof for hurting religious sentiments
The University has also set up a two-member enquiry committee on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Medicine
Aligarh Muslim University has issued a show cause notice to one of its faculty members, Dr Jitendra Kumar for hurting the religious sentiments of the students, staff and citizens.
Kumar, an Assistant Professor of Medical College of AMU while taking second-year MBBS classes in Forensic Studies in his slides allegedly hurt religious sentiments by referring to Hindu Gods and Goddesses while describing rape. A row erupted when the slide went viral.
Following this incident, Aligarh Muslim University has issued a show-cause notice to Dr Jitendra Kumar for hurting religious sentiments "in the content of a slide on the mythical reference of rape" during a class.
As per a statement issued by the university, the Aligarh Muslim University administration and the Faculty of Medicine today strongly condemned the content of a slide on the mythical reference of rape and issued a show-cause notice to Dr Jitendra Kumar for hurting the religious sentiments of the students, staff and citizens.
He has been asked to submit his reply in 24 hours. The University has also set up a two-member enquiry committee on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Professor Rakesh Bhargava to look into the whole matter and suggest steps that this sort of incident does not recur.
Meanwhile, Dr Jitendra Kumar has submitted an unconditional apology.
