Assam Budget 2022: Rs 25 Cr to Gauhati University for start-up ecosystem; Six universities to get Rs 50 Cr each
State government has also announced to turn seven colleges into universities and provide Rs 10 Crore each.
Assam government in its Budget for the year 2022-23 has announced to give Rs 25 crore to Gauhati University for building start-up ecosystem. It has also announced to give Rs 15 Crore each to Assam University and Tezpur University and Silchar University and Rs 10 crore for Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Guwahati.
Under the Pragyan Bharati scheme, the #Assam Government will be providing scooters to all meritorious boys and girls who secure first division in the higher secondary examination.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam wrote on Twitter: “The Assam Budget 2022 has announced setting up of new universities and upgrade of several colleges into universities. This is going to provide a huge boost to our education sector.”
Under the Tejasvi Navadhitamastu Edu-Infra Funds (TNEIF), Rs 50 crore each will be provided to six universities, Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhattadev University, Majuli University, Madhabdev University, Birangana Sati Sadhini State University and Aniruddhadev Sports University, under NIDA funding scheme.
The state government has also announced to turn seven colleges into universities and provide each one of them Rs 10 crore funding. The colleges are Sibsagar College, Kokrajhar Government College, Bongaigaon College, Jagannath Barooah College, North Lakhimpur College, Handique Girls' College and Nagaon College.
Besides this Rs 25 crore will be provided to Gauhati University for the start-up ecosystem, Rs 15 crore to Assam University and Tezpur University. Rs 25 crore to Assam Agricultural University for upgrading nine colleges under it.
To boost research, Rs 15 crore will be provided to Tata Institute of Social Sciences for infrastructure and Rs 10 Crore for building Science Block in Haflong College.
