AUD announces admissions for academic year 2023-24; Admissions through CUET
85% seats to those who completed 12th from Delhi, students can change priority in CUET
BR Ambedkar University, Delhi (AUD) has started the process of admissions for the academic year 2023-24. Brochures for admissions and competency enhancement courses were also released on the occasion. The university plans to start the new academic session from August 1.
AUD Vice Chancellor, Prof. Anu Singh Lather informed that admissions in AUD will be based on CUET. 85% seats in Ambedkar University are reserved for students who have passed class 12th from Delhi. She told that this time the candidates have also been given the option to change the priority in CUET. Students who have not previously filled the option of AUD in their preference can change it and fill the option of AUD.
In response to a question regarding the academic session, the Vice Chancellor said that there is a plan to start the new academic session from August 1. Prof. Lather informed that this time applicants for CUET in UG and PG have placed AUD at fourth position among top 10 universities in applications on NTA.
She informed that 472357 applicants for UG and 192750 applicants for PG have preferred AUD. She said that despite AUD being a State University, it is a big deal that students have placed it at number four in the country in terms of priority option.
Sharing the data regarding admissions with reporters, she said that in this academic session, AUD is also making admissions to 125 PhD programs including 18 Undergraduate (UG) programs and 27 Postgraduate (PG) programs on the basis of CUET. This time admission is to be done for 1123 seats in UG and 1399 seats in PG. She informed that admission to BBA (IEV) will be done on the basis of test. Registrar Dr. Nitin Malik, COF Rajeev Talwar, Dean DSS Prof Santosh Singh, Proctor Prof. Satya Ketu and Dean Planning Prof. Karthik Dave etc. were also present on this occasion.
Competency Enhancement Course
Giving information about the Competency Enhancement courses, the Vice-Chancellor said that this system has been started in 143 courses in 14 schools. She told that there is no age limit under this. Any working professional can join these courses as per their interest.
Establishment of 100 new AUD MRF in Ph.D.
To promote research culture in the university, a new 100 AUD MRF has been established in Ph.D. Under this, arrangements have been made to give allowance equal to UGC JRF per month to merit holders. She said that apart from JRF in AUD, researchers without NET/JRF are also given an allowance of Rs 16,000 per month, which is almost double than other universities. The Vice-Chancellor said that in this way almost all research scholars in AUD get allowance.
39% of Budget spent on student support system
Giving detailed information about fee waiver, the Vice-Chancellor said that no fee is charged from all SC and ST students in Ambedkar University, no creamy layer restriction has also been implemented for this. She said that our thinking is that if something good can happen, it should be done. The provision of 10% for EWS is as per Govt. The Vice-Chancellor said that under this the full fees of the students whose family income is less than Rs 3 lakh is waived off. 75% fees are waived for students with income between 3 to 4 lakhs, 50% for those with income between 4 to 5 lakhs and 25% for those with monthly income between 5 lakh to 6 lakhs. She pointed out that 39% of the AUD's budget is spent on the student support system.
Provision of reservation
Regarding reservation in admissions, the Vice-Chancellor said that reservation of one seat each has been kept in each program under sports and CCA quota. Apart from these, provision of reservation has also been kept for Defense, Kashmiri Displaced, PWD and Single Girl Child under supernumerary quota.
