Budget Session: President Murmu Announces Stringent Measures Against Exam Irregularities

In an impassioned address to the Parliament on the opening day of the Budget session, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the concerns of the youth regarding examination irregularities and unveiled a comprehensive plan to address the issue.

President Murmu emphasized the government's dedication to fostering research and innovation with the introduction of the "Anusandhan National Research Foundation Act." The Act is poised to strengthen the research landscape in the country, promoting a culture of innovation.
During the session, President Murmu announced a significant amendment to the Central University Act, paving the way for the establishment of the Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University in Telangana, a move expected to enhance educational opportunities for tribal communities.
In a historic move towards inclusivity, the President revealed that reservation benefits have been extended to economically weaker sections of the general category. A 27 percent reservation has been introduced under the central quota for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses.
The President highlighted the government's commitment to education and skill development, citing the rapid implementation of the National Education Policy. Emphasizing education in mother tongue and Indian languages, President Murmu noted the initiation of teaching engineering, medical, and law subjects in Indian languages.
To ensure quality education for school students, the government is actively working on establishing more than 14,000 'PM Shri Vidyalayas,' with over 6000 already operational. The President credited government initiatives for reducing the dropout rate, increasing girls' enrollment in higher education, and boosting enrollment figures for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Other Backward Class students.
President Murmu also celebrated the success of the Atal Innovation Mission, with 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs promoting innovation and engaging over 1 crore students. The President concluded the address by highlighting the remarkable growth in the healthcare sector, with the establishment of 16 AIIMS, 315 medical colleges, and 157 nursing colleges in the past decade, resulting in more than a doubling of MBBS seats across the country.
