CUET UG Admissions 2023: St. Stephen's to enroll students in all courses on basis of CUET score
St Stephen’s College will be conducting its undergraduate admissions for the academic year 2023-24 through Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2023. All undergraduate admissions in St.Stephen's College will be conducted on the basis of the CUET Score this year.
CUET UG Admissions 2023: Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh has announced that the St Stephen’s College will be conducting its undergraduate admissions for the academic year 2023-24 through Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2023. All the undergraduate admissions in the St.Stephen's College will be conducted on the basis of CUET Score this year.
Singh stated that all Delhi University Colleges will be admitting students based on their CUET UG scores. The VC further confirmed that "St Stephen’s will conduct UG Admissions for candidates from all categories based on their performance in the CUET UG exam."
“100% seats in St Stephen's college will be filled through CUET from upcoming session. No interviews will be held for the minority category as well,” stated Yogesh Singh, as reported by TimesNow. It must be noted that St.Stephen's and DU have been at loggerheads with each other over the admissions procedure since the latter implemented CUET.
In 2022, DU has asked all the affiliated colleges to hold admissions by giving 100 per cent weightage to the CUET entrance exam. However, St Stephen’s said that it will give the exam 85 percent weightage and the remaining 15 percent would be given to interviews for non-minority students.
However, DU approached the Delhi High Court after St. Stephen's refused to withdraw their prospectus for UG Admissions 2022. After the matter was heard, the High Court directed the DU College to withdraw its prospectus and conduct admissions solely through CUET 2022.
Later, the college reached out to Apex Court for interim relief and to challenge the Delhi HC order. After the matter was heard by the Supreme Court, the apex court decided not to stay the order passed by Delhi HC.
“Last year, it was the first time, and we faced some issues. The ideal situation would be conducting CUET twice a year. The best performance should be considered, and I am hopeful UGC will consider this,” stated the DU VC.
