DU Admissions 2022: Supreme Court will hear the plea filed by St. Stephen's college today challenging the order issued by Delhi High Court. In a brief hearing on Monday, the Supreme Court decided to list the matter regarding DU Admissions 2022 today, October 19, 2022. Because of the delay in the hearing, the Delhi University had also announced that it will release the DU First Cut off list 2022 today. DU was supposed to release the DU 1st Merit list 2022 on October 18, 2022.

A bench comprising of Justices Ajay Rastogi and CT Ravikumar agreed to hear the petition filed by the Christian Minority institute today. With this petition, St Stephen’s College is seeking for an interim relief from the order issued by the Delhi High Court on September 12, 2022.

As per the order passed by the Delhi High Court, St Stephen’s College was asked to withdraw its prospectus for undergraduate admissions and follow the admission norms that has been set by Delhi University for UG admissions. It must be noted that from this year onwards, Delhi University will be admitting students solely on the basis of the Common University Entrance Test.

DU and its affiliated colleges will be giving 100 percent weightage to CUET Scores and using that as the main criterion for UG Admissions. However, St Stephen’s College decided to give 85 percent weightage to CUET scores and the remaining 15 percent will be given to interviews of the non-minority students.

This admission row had been ongoing since May this year. Both the institutions exchanged letters back and forth and later on approached the Delhi High Court, where the order was passed in favour for DU’s 100 percent CUET admission policy.
