DU Admissions 2022: What changed in eligibility criteria for DU UG Admissions 2022 through CUET?

Delhi University today conducted a webinar on Delhi University Undergraduate Admissions 2022 with an aim to spread awareness about the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). DU Admissions 2022 to 73 undergraduate courses will be conducted through CUET 2022. This is the first time that the varsity will be conducting the examination to undergraduate courses through common entrance test. As per the DU Admission policy, the candidate must have passed the class 12th examination or equivalent from the single recognized board.

The Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) 2022 application process for undergraduate courses in the central Universities for the academic year 2022-23 is currently underway and will end on May 6. The National Testing Agency has officially begun the CUET 2022 application process on April 6, 2022. The CUET 2022 application process is being conducted entirely in online format through the official website; i.e. cuet.samarth.ac.in.

All those students who are looking forward to appear for CUET 2022 must complete the application process after reading the CUET 2022 registration process carefully on or before May 6, 2022. CUET is expected to be conducted in the first and second week of July, the dates will be released soon on the official website- cuet.nta.nic.in. CUET 2022 will be held in 13 languages -- Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi, Odia and English. CUET 2022 will be held in 547 cities within India and in 13 cities outside India. Several Universities like AMU, JNU, BHU, Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia will be participating in the CUET 2022 from this year onwards.

DU Admissions 2022: Merit based

Candidates must note that every program will have its specific eligibility requirements. The varsity also clarified that, like earlier, where the merit to a program was determined on the basis of Best three/best four, this year too, the best performance of the students in class 12th will be maintained in CUET. Merit will be based on the highest score that a candidate gets by considering all the combinations of subjects in which s(he) appears in the CUET.  

DU Admissions 2022: Stream change

The earlier process allowed a student to change the stream after the declaration of the cutoffs at the disadvantage of a few percentage points in the best-of-four calculation. However, from this year, there will be no disadvantage on changing the stream.

DU Admissions 2022: Gap Year

All those candidates seeking admission into DU and have a gap year, must note that, from this year onwards, the gap year will not be a bar for purpose of admission to UG courses. However, it is mandatory for them to appear in  CUET 2022.

DU Admissions 2022: Eligibility criteria

Though the eligibility criteria for every programmes are different. Read below to know some major changes that have been brought this year:

For admission to BA (Science, Maths and Technology):

Obtaining a minimum of 30 per cent marks in any one language in CUET is mandatory. For Admission to Bachelors of Arts: It is mandatory for students to appear in any one language and any three subjects. Merit will be ascertained from the highest score that a candidate obtains among the combination of three subjects and any one language.

For BA (Languages):

Candidates seeking admission to language programmes can select the language in CUET or may appear in any other language. However, preference will be given to those who will choose to appear in a particular language.

For BA (Hons) Economics:

It is mandatory for candidates to appear in a Mathematics paper in CUET 2022.

For BCom (Hons.):

It is mandatory for candidates to appear in CUET in either Mathematics or Accountancy.
