The DUSU elections were conducted on September 27, with initial plans to declare the results the following day. However, legal and procedural hurdles, including defacement of public spaces during the campaign, led to delays.

The counting of votes for the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections 2024-25 has been scheduled for November 25, 2024. Prof. Satyapal Singh, Chief Election Officer for the elections, announced the decision following directives from the Delhi High Court, which mandated the process be completed by November 26, provided all identified distortions are resolved.

Prof. Singh acknowledged ongoing issues with incomplete cleanup efforts in some locations. In response, the university has decided to undertake the cleaning process itself to ensure compliance with the court’s order.

Counting Schedule and Venue

The vote counting will commence at 8:00 AM on November 25 at the Conference Center, opposite the Department of Botany in North Campus. Colleges, departments, and institutes have been instructed to complete their preliminary counting on Sunday, November 24.

Morning institutions are to begin counting at 8:00 AM.

Evening institutions will start at 2:00 PM.

Elections and Delays

The DUSU elections were conducted on September 27, with initial plans to declare the results the following day. However, legal and procedural hurdles, including defacement of public spaces during the campaign, led to delays. The Delhi High Court intervened, staying the results until the university addressed these issues.

This year’s voter turnout was notably low, with only 51,379 of the 1.45 lakh eligible voters participating, marking the lowest turnout in at least a decade. The campaign period faced criticism for damaging public property, adding to the controversy surrounding the elections.

The final results, expected after the November 25 counting, will mark the conclusion of a contentious electoral process.

Q:   Can I take admission to DU with 60% in Class 12?

A:

DU is considered one of the most competitive universities in India for Commerce, Science and Arts education at the undergraduate level. The university and its affiliated colleges was attracting the cream layer of crowd till the time admission was subject to Class 12 scores. While reserved category candidates still had minor chances of getting into a not-so-popular course of DU with 60% in Class 12, a General category student with 60% had no chance of getting into any good college or course at DU.

However, starting 2022, DU admission process has shifted to CUET-UG based admission process. Those with a valid score in CUET UG exam who have passed their Class 12 are eligible to take admission now. While the chances of getting into a good DU college are still low at this score, the chances of getting a seat have increased now (provided you score extremely well in CUET UG).
