Enrollment opens for IKS MOOCS Courses: UGC
In order to facilitate the target segment, the SWYAM courses are offered in three streams: Engineering, Science & Technology and Humanities and Social Sciences.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has opened admissions for courses under the Indian Knowledge System, Concepts and Application. The 10 week post graduation level courses would commence on July 31.
UGC Chairman, Prof M Jagadesh Kumar sharing the information wrote on Twitter: “Further to the publication of our book on IKS, we are happy to bring to your attention the starting of the MOOC courses on the above subject. The courses are being offered through SWYAM and the platform is open for registration.”

Last week UGC issued the guidelines to include Indian Knowledge System (IKS) in the Higher Education Curriculum. The UGC notification stated that the NEP 2020 lays emphasis on promoting Indian languages, arts and culture and tries to remove this discontinuity in the flow of the IKS system by incorporating it into the curriculum at all levels of education.
“All the Higher Education Institutions are requested to take necessary action for implementation of the guidelines in letter and spirit, the notice further added. According to the guidelines drafted by the UGC, the IKS curriculum will have topics including Indian Logic, Indian Linguistics, Indian architecture, Indian Metallurgy, and Indian Polity and Economy etc.” it stated.
UGC Chairman has stated that the courses will be open from July 31, 2023 and enrollment has begun.
The objective of the course is to provide a general introduction to Indian Knowledge System and sensitize the students to the contributions made by ancient Indians in the field of Science, Philosophy and related applications and concepts.
