Spreading over 18.75 acres, state-of-the-art campus-equipped facilities will be available for nearly 2400 students. An Administrative Section, Auditorium, Teaching Section and Sports Section will also be present at the varsity’s East Delhi campus.

The East Delhi Campus of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) is now operational, according to the latest tweet by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. “The university has created two flagship schools in this campus, viz., University School of Automation & Robotics (USAR) and University School of Design & Innovation (USDI). This academic session will offer five new bachelor degree programmes in these schools at the east Delhi campus at Surajmal Vihar,” the university said in a statement.

Spreading over 18.75 acres, state-of-the-art campus-equipped facilities will be available for nearly 2400 students. Earlier, last year, after a visit to the campus, the Delhi education minister Manish Sisodia told India that 5 specialised centres including Robotics & Automation, Design & Innovation, Fire-Management, Liberal Arts are being set up in this campus.

Programmes to be offered at GGSIPU East Delhi Campus

The programmes include B Tech in Automation & Robotics (120 Seats), B Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (120 Seats), B Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (120 Seats), B Tech in Industrial Internet of Things (120 Seats) and one B Des (120 Seats) programme at USDI (University School of Design & Innovation).

Infrastructure Detail

An Administrative Section, Auditorium, Teaching Section and Sports Section will also be present at the varsity’s East Delhi campus. Apart from this, a separate library block has also been built in the premises of the campus. An academic block consisting of two 9-storey buildings and one 7-storey building has been constructed here. There are 4 lecture halls, each with a capacity of 120 people. 24 classrooms with a capacity of 100 students each are also constructed. A sports hall with a capacity of 300 people has also been built here, along with a 5-storey auditorium block - which has a total capacity of 650.

Hostel Facility

Hostels and residential blocks have also been constructed for the students in the campus. Approximately 500 students can stay in the various boys and girl's hostels present in the campus. There are also 48 quarters that have been made available for the staff.
