Delhi University Admissions 2022 are still underway. Read further to know how to get admission in DU without CUET score.
Delhi University Admissions 2022 for Undergraduate courses are currently underway. This year, with Delhi University adopting Common University Entrance Test (CUET), many students are still trying hard to find their preferred course and college. Until now, admission to DU was conducted on the basis of the Class 12th marks. However, DU Admissions 2022 is now based on the CUET score.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the CUET Exams 2022. Many students face technical glitches while some struggle to understand the syllabus and pattern. Delhi University Admissions have always been amongst top priority for the students looking forward to taking admission in some of its top courses like Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Commerce (BCom). However, irrespective of Du's soaring cut-off based on CUET, Class 12-passed students can still fulfill their dreams of studying at Delhi University with the list of off-beat certificate courses offered by Delhi University School of Open Learning (DU SOL).
Yes, you heard it right. CUET scores are not applicable for admission into courses offered at DU SOL. DU SOL has been offering various professional and technical training programmes and short term certificate courses for over 60 years now in disciplines such as history, political science, and commerce, among others. Along with this, Students studying at DU SOL are also given the option to enroll in regular DU colleges after the completion of the first year.
As per the official data shared by the varsity, DU SOL Admissions 2021, witnessed 1,27,095 students -- 57,454 women and 69,641 men -- taking admission to SOL.
While speaking to Shiksha, Professor Payal Mago, director, DU SOL said, “considering that this was the first year that DU Admissions have been conducted on the basis of CUET score, there might be many who would have either not scored well or have missed the entrance exam due to glitches. We invite them to apply in DU SOL and are also expecting more admissions this year.”
When asked about the upcoming courses she said, “ we have already added six new courses which are job-oriented based to our curriculum in both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These courses will prove as an alternate way for many students who either didn’t clear the CUET or faced glitches.”
Talking about the classes and syllabus, she said, “School of Open Learning (SOL) classes run on weekends I.e., Saturday and Sunday at around 40 Delhi University colleges. Students are also provided with a facility of e-content to help students through e-learning. Students can now even find their course material online,” she said.
DU SOL: Eligibility criteria
“Students must not worry as DU SOL admission will be solely based on the board results and there will be no age limit. Every course has its own eligibility criteria, students are advised to check it before applying,” she added.
For BA (Hons). Economics, which is very famous amongst the courses offered by the DU and witnesses the highest enrollment every year, students need to have minimum 60 per cent marks in Class 12th with Mathematics as the subject. "For all the new courses, new faculties have also been recruited. For all the programmes offered by DU SOL, offline classes will be mandatory on every weekend. Except for MBA, seats are unlimited in most of the courses. DU SOL Admission form will be released this week. The first round admission process is expected to continue until October 31, if required, the registration date will be increased further", Dr. Mago said.
“We are following National Education Policy 2020 and UGCF curriculum. Our main aim is to make students industry-ready and hence we will be providing the skill based courses too,” She added.
