IISER Mohali Achieves Global Recognition: Prestigious Fellowship and Key Research Highlights

IISER Mohali's Biological Sciences faculty, Dr Santosh B Satbhai received SSHN Fellowship 2024 while Prof Arunika Mukhopadhaya has been elected as a fellow of the National Academy of Science. 

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali has made significant achievements in the field of innovation and research collaboration. As a part of achievements in science, research and capacity building, the institute has earned recognition at national and international levels. The institute also hosted the ISRO-DMSP SURE-ALERT programme that aimed to offer early warning on landslides and create a warning system that included 18 keynotes and advanced hands-on sessions. 

The ISRO DMSP capacity-building programme "Sure-Alert", a system for unprecedented rainfall-induced landslide early warning technique, will help to focus on early warning systems for landslides. The programme was organised by the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at IISER Mohali and top researchers shared their keynotes on WRF modelling and early warning systems.

Some of the recent achievements by the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali has been provided below:

• Dr Santosh B Satbhai from the Department of Biological Sciences received the SSHN Fellowship 2024 for their contribution and research collaboration with the Institute for Plant Sciences of Notpelier (IPSiM), France. He was awarded the Scientific High-Level Visiting Fellowship (SSHN) 2024 by the French Embassy in India with an opportunity to visit IPSiM as a part of the programme. 
• Prof Arunika Mukhopadhaya from the Department of Biological Sciences has been elected as a fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) 2024.
