JNU To Consider Revisiting Proctorial Investigations Involving Students

The Jawaharlal Nehru University administration will reassess all ongoing proctorial investigations launched against the four students' union representatives and 12 hostel presidents who participated in a protest addressing the issue of water shortage. Earlier, JNU has implemented severe restrictions in its new Chief Proctor Office (CPO) manual, prohibiting wall posters, dharnas, or rallies within 100 meters of academic buildings.
As reported by PTI, during a meeting on Monday with JNUSU representatives and hostel presidents, the Vice-Chancellor assured to review the JNUSU's request to withdraw ongoing proctorial investigations against students involved in the water shortage protest at the appeal stage. However, no clarity was given on the other ongoing inquiries by the Jawaharlal Nehru University administration.
On December 15, the JNUSU submitted a memorandum to the VC, urging the withdrawal of all current investigations into student-led protests, denouncing the actions as "draconian" and "arbitrary."

The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) has planned a 'Mashal Juloos' on December 23 to protest the ongoing proctorial investigations targeting students. Their demands encompass the full withdrawal of any disciplinary actions imposed on the involved students. They said that they were not satisfied with the "little" consolation and will continue their call for protests.
