National Awards to Teachers (Higher Education) 2024 Portal Launched: Nominations Open Until June 20

This award is open to faculty members from colleges, universities, higher educational institutions, and polytechnics across India.

The Ministry of Education has launched the portal for nominations for the National Awards to Teachers (Higher Education) 2024. This award is open to faculty members from colleges, universities, higher educational institutions, and polytechnics across India. The initiative aims to recognize and honor exceptional educators in the higher education sector.

Eligibility and Nomination Details:

To be eligible, nominees must meet the following criteria:

Be a regular faculty member.

Have at least five years of full-time teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.

Be under 55 years of age as of the application deadline.

Not hold the position of Vice-Chancellor, Director, or Principal (regular or officiating). However, individuals who have held such positions in the past, are below 55 years, and remain in active service, are eligible.

Nominations can be submitted until 20th June 2024. The award ceremony will take place on 5th September 2024, coinciding with Teachers' Day, in honor of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and a distinguished teacher.

Categories and Recognition:

The awards will be distributed among teachers of both technical and non-technical higher education institutions, including polytechnic institutions. There are three sub-categories under the award:

Engineering & Technology, Architecture.

Pure Sciences including Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy.

Arts and Social Sciences, Humanities, Languages, Legal Studies, Commerce, and Management.

The purpose of these awards is to acknowledge the unique contributions of educators who have significantly enhanced the quality of higher education through innovative teaching methods, impactful research, community outreach, and dedicated service to their institutions.

Nomination Procedure:

Nominations can be self-submitted or proposed by colleagues, former or existing Vice-Chancellors, Directors, or Principals of the nominee's current institution. Previous nominees are also eligible for re-nomination.
