Padma Awards 2024: 132 Awards Approved, PM Modi, Education Minister congratulates winners

As many as 19 people have been selected for Padma Awards this year from the field of Literature and Education, while there are 13 from Medicine and seven from Science & Engineering.

As many as 19 people have been selected for Padma Awards this year from the field of Literature and Education, while there are 13 from Medicine and seven from Science & Engineering.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the winners of the Padma Awards 2024.

Congratulating the winners, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X (former Twitter): “Congratulations to all those who have been conferred the Padma Awards. India cherishes their contribution across diverse sectors. May they continue to inspire people with their exceptional work.”

On the eve of Republic Day, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced the Padma Awards 2024. The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has approved a total of 132 Padma Awards, including 5 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 110 Padma Shri awards. One of the highest civilian awards in the country, Padma Awards, is bestowed in various disciplines such as Science and Engineering, Social Work, Public Affairs, Art, Medicine, Literature and Education, Sports, and Civil Service.

A total of 19 Padma Awards have been announced in the field of Literature and Education for the year 2024. The list includes 2 Padma Bhushan and 17 Padma Shri awardees. Hormusji N Cama and Kundan Vyas have been conferred with the Padma Bhushan for their extraordinary contributions to Literature and Education – Journalism. Interestingly, Pierre Sylvain Filliozat and Fred Negrit from France were chosen for the Padma Shri in the field of Literature and Education under the category of Foreigners.

Union Education Minister congratulating the Padma Award 2024 winners wrote on X: “Congratulations to all the grassroot personalities who have been honoured with the #PeoplesPadma. India celebrates their achievement and is proud of their contribution which has enriched our society. Heartening to see many extraordinary citizens from the tribal and vulnerable communities bestowed with the highest civilian honours of India.”
