PM Modi to Inaugurate Nalanda University New Campus in Bihar On June 19; Reports

Nalanda University inauguration will be conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 19 amidst a two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar states of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar to inaugurate the new campus of Nalanda University, named after the world-famous ancient university for education. The officials of the state government and the central university conducted a meeting on Saturday to discuss the preparations for the PM's Visit on June 19. 

Meanwhile, dignitaries like Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Governor Rajendra Arlekar are likely to attend the inauguration ceremony. Further, the Head of Missions of 17 Countries are also expected to attend the event, as reported by Economic Times. 

Nalanda University Inauguration Ceremony Timing

PM Narendra Modi is expected to reach the ruins of Nalanda at around 9:45 AM on June 19. At around 10:30 AM, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir, Bihar and will also address the gathering on the occasion. 

About the University

The university was founded in 2010 by an Act of Parliament and is located less than 20 Km from the Nalanda Mahavira, which has been classified as a World Heritage site. The university offers multiple courses in Hindu Studies, Comparative Religion, Buddhist Studies, and Ecological and Environmental Studies on its huge campus that spans around 450 acres.

Preceding that, former President APJ Abdul Kalam had proposed the revival of the ancient university in his address to a joint session of the legislature in Bihar.
