The United Kingdom stands out as a favoured higher education hub for Indian students. Studying in the UK is costly and students look for various ways to mitigate the costs. This is where UK universities offers scholarships to the Indian students seeking to study there. The scholarships in UK are given to Indian students based on merit, financial need, and chosen course of study. 

They range from full to partial coverage, varying according to the specific university and course selection. For those willing to study in the UK, UCL and Imperial College London have launched fresh scholarship packages for Indian students aspiring to pursue studies in the UK, as per Times Higher Education (THE). 

About UCL India Excellence Scholarship 

The UCL India Excellence Scholarship aims to provide support to Indian postgraduate students studying in the UK. This scholarship offers a £5,000 grant for one year and is intended for outstanding Indian students with remarkable academic achievements who are pursuing postgraduate studies. 

To be eligible for UCL India Excellence Scholarship, candidates must meet the below mentioned requirements: 

• They must be able to pay the international tuition fees
• They must be a permanent resident of India
• They must have a bachelor’s degree from an institution listed in the top 100 of India’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)
• They must have secured a grade-point average equivalent to a UK first-class degree
• They need to complete the application for a full-time master’s degree at UCL by February 29, 2024 till 5 pm BST 

Notification of acceptance for the academic year 2024-25 will be sent to all selected candidates by mid-May. Moreover, applicants will be automatically reviewed for eligibility upon submitting a comprehensive admission application to UCL, eliminating the necessity for a separate application form.

About India Future Leaders Scholarship at Imperial College London 

Imperial College London has launched the India Future Leaders Scholarship, offering a £10,000 grant per student. This scholarship targets exceptional Indian graduates pursuing postgraduate and master’s research degrees for the academic year 2024-25.

The India Future Leaders Scholarship is available for the international students from India, this scholarship aids full-time study and mandates adherence to specific eligibility prerequisites. Applicants must be Indian residents, prepared to start their studies at the beginning of the UK academic year in September-October 2024. 

As per THE, the candidates can submit the application form to the university and have received an offer for a one-year full-time MSc or MRes in specific faculties by May 11, 2024. The subjects included for this scholarship are: aeronautics, chemistry, business, electrical and electronic engineering, computing and maths, among others. 

No separate application form is needed for the scholarship. Top-ranked eligible candidates will be nominated by each faculty, and successful applicants will receive notifications by June 30, 2024. In case of any queries, candidates can mail at: student.funding@imperial.ac.uk.
