The defaulting universities were given the opportunity to explain the reasons for non-compliance with PhD regulations. However, their responses were unsatisfactory, leading to the debarment of these universities from enrolling PhD students for the next five years.

UGC Debarred 3 Universities from PhD Admission

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has banned three universities in Rajasthan from enrolling PhD students for the next five years. The universities i.e. OPJS University, Sunrise University, and Singhania University have been debarred from PhD enrollment after they failed to meet the requirements of UGC's PhD regulations.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the formation of a standing committee to monitor universities' compliance with PhD regulations. This committee is also tasked with recommending corrective measures and taking appropriate action against institutions that fail to adhere to the guidelines.

Universities Debarred from Admitting PhD Students

Among all the universities that submitted their data, OPJS University, Sunrise University, and Singhania University were found to be non-compliant with UGC's PhD regulations and academic standards for awarding PhD degrees. Based on the standing committee's recommendation, these three universities have been debarred from enrolling PhD students for the next five years.

Despite being given the opportunity to explain their non-compliance, the universities' responses were unsatisfactory. As a result, the UGC has decided to impose stringent measures, preventing these universities from admitting new PhD students.

"Keeping in view the recommendations given by the Standing Committee, it has been decided to debar these three Universities from enrolling scholars under PhD program for the next five years i.e. from the academic year 2025-26 to 2029-30." The official notification reads.

Besides, the authorities have advised prospective students to not take admission in the PhD programme offered by the defaulter universities as degree from the aforesaid will not be treated as recognised.
