UGC Urges HEIs to Inform Researchers About New G20 Talent Visa
The G20 Talent Visa is a student visa for scientists, researchers, faculty members and scholar academicians of the G20 group countries to visit India for the purpose of projects, post-doctoral research and fellowships.
The University Grants Commission has released a notification concerning an amendment in Chapter-15-Student Visa of the Visa Manual 2019. Reportedly, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has introduced a new category "G20 Talent Visa' under Chapter 12- Student Visa of the Visa Manual especially for scientists, researchers, faculty members and scholar academicians of the G20 group countries. Researchers from G20 group countries willing to visit India for projects, training programmes, fellowships or post-doctoral research will be catered under G20 Talent Visa rules and regulations.
"It is informed that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has announced the approval to introduce a new category 'G20 Talent Visa' under sub-category (S-5 visa) of Student Visa for Scientists, Researchers, Faculty members, Scholar Academicians of the G20 group countries to enter India for the purpose of projects, training programs, post-doctoral research, fellowships etc." The official notification reads.

MoHA has approved the G20 Talent Visa to attract top researchers and scholars from G20 countries aiming to become one of the top global academic and technologically advanced nations. The initiative is in line with PM Narendra Modi's vision to draw international talent in India and boost India's scientific and technological capabilities. Through the G20 Talent Visa, India seeks to get global collaboration, drive innovation and improve the educational ecosystem.
The notice further urged All Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to circulate this information concerning the G20 Talent Visa among stakeholders/ faculty members/ researchers and scholars in order to offer a valuable opportunity for individuals to present their research and innovation.
