Universities to prepare CUET UG 2022 rank lists using normalised NTA scores not percentile: UGC Chairman

The University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar has said that universities will prepare the CUET UG 2022 rank lists on the basis of the normalised NTA scores and not percentile. The UGC Chairman further said that "CUET scores have been normalised to provide a level playing field to students since the candidates wrote CUET 2022 in the same subject on different days."

He said that the "CUET normalisation formula has been decided by a panel of professors from Indian Statistical Institute, IIT Delhi and Delhi University."

While explaining the reason why CUET UG 2022 percentile is not been used for compiling the rank list, he said, "Unlike CUET UG, other entrance examinations are limited to fewer subjects," as reported by NDTV. The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) result today; i.e. September 16. The CUET 2022 exam was conducted in six phases between July 15 and August 30 in 20 days and 38 slots involving a total of 2,219 question papers.

The medium of the Question Paper was in 13 languages (English, Hindi along with regional languages i.e. Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu) so that the candidate from different regions could attempt in their own medium and feel comfortable to write and understand the pattern/method of the examination.

The NTA had earlier announced that the CUET UG normalisation method or equipercentile method will include the percentile for each candidate which is calculated using the raw marks of the candidate as compared to the raw marks of others in the same session.
