Uttarakhand Open University to start CBCS from AY 2023-24
The student will not face any problems even after changing the university as CBCS will be applicable under the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC)
Uttarakhand Open University has decided to implement Credit Based Choice System (CBCS) from the next academic year 2023-24. With CBCS semester system will be implemented in all the courses and students will be able to choose the subjects of other streams as per their choice.
The decision to implement CBCS was taken during the Executive Council (EC) meeting held under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof OPS Negi. The student will not face any problems even after changing the university as CBCS will be applicable under the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the New Education Policy (NEP).
Its approval has been given during the meeting of the University Executive Council.
UOU Registrar Prof. PD Pant said that along with the implementation of the CBCS pattern, the issue of employment of employees was also brought before the EC. He informed that instructions have been given to prepare a policy for adding weightage of experience of working in the distance education system, etc. to the temporary employees working on vacant posts in future.
Along with this, EC's approval has been received on other subjects including the formation of employees' organization and reorganization of regional offices.
Eight regional directors to be replaced
Regional Directors who are posted at Haldwani, Dehradun, Roorkee, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Ranikhet, Uttarkashi and Pauri regional offices of UOU. will be removed and the assistant regional directors of the university will be posted at these places.
