IIT Bombay celebrates 63rd Foundation Day
Thirteen alumni received the Distinguished Alumnus Awards (DAA) while two were honoured with the Young Alumni Achiever Awards (YAAA).
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay celebrated its 63rd Foundation Day on March 10. As many as 13 alumni received the Distinguished Alumnus Awards (DAA) while two members were honoured with the Young Alumni Achiever Awards (YAAA). Nuclear physicist Dr Anil Kakodkar was the chief guest at the event.
Prof Jugal K Verma was conferred upon the Prof SC Bhattacharya Award for Excellence in Research in Pure Sciences while Prof Jayesh Bellare was awarded the Prof HH Mathur Award for Excellence in Research in Applied Sciences.
IIT Bombay introduces 3 ongoing projects to engage alumni
During the foundation day event, three ongoing projects were introduced – upgradation of H5; IIT Bombay’s Women Gen Zero project that applauds the accomplishments of 30 women alumni and “Stay Connected” that encourages continued engagement between IIT Bombay and its alumni.
IIT Bombay Director Prof Subhasis Chaudhuri said, “The path to glory of an Institute is through the hard work and dedication of its faculty, staff and students, but the signs of glory are the achievements of its alumni. We are delighted at the success of our alumni.”
Meanwhile, the chief guest, Dr Anil Kakodkar, said, “...in context with the current scenario in the country about the education and its role in national development, institutions like IIT Bombay and higher learning institutions at the apex level must be a kind of mini environment that represents the best that you want to see in the country.”
