JNU releases fresh guidelines amid spike in COVID cases

JNU has now released a fresh list of guidelines to avoid the spread of COVID-19. The University has also urged the students and campus residents, all stakeholders to strictly adhere to the measures/steps.

In wake of a surge in COVID-19 cases, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has now released a fresh list of guidelines to curb the spread of Covid-19 infection. JNU has released an official notification, saying "In view of an unprecedented surge of the Covid-19 cases, and keeping in mind the well-being and safety of students and campus residents, all stakeholders of the University are hereby requested to adhere to the following necessary measures/steps to prevent its spread in the University Campus."

List of guidelines released by JNU:

  • All are requested to ensure strict compliance with COVID-appropriate behavior viz. frequent washing of hands/sanitization, wearing a mask/face cover, observing social distancing at all times.
  • Installation and use of the Aarogya Setu App shall be advised to all
  • Wearing of face mask is mandatory on campus. The security personnel is authorized to take photographs if anyone is not wearing the face mask. Appropriate disciplinary action including fine shall we imposed in this regard
  • Avoid non-essential movements on campus and stay safely at home.
  • The Security Personnel are instructed to barricade the sensitive area in order to restrict the non-essential movement
  • Employees and their family members and students who test positive or are under home isolation/quarantine must inform with supporting documents immediately to the security for necessary action.
  • These advisories will be applicable with immediate effect

Earlier, working in line with Delhi Government and DDMA order, JNU had shut down the offline academic activity and Ambedkar library till further orders. The university had also announced a night curfew in the university premises from 10.00 pm to 05.00 am as a measure to avoid further spread.
