Karnataka schools, colleges closed today in Vijayapura

Deputy Commissioner Vijaymahantesh Dannmmanavar in a communique stated, Siddeshwara Swamiji's mortal remains will be kept at his Ashram til 8 am and then will be taken to Sainik School.

Karnataka Schools, Colleges Shut: Karnataka schools and colleges will remain closed today, January 3, 2023. The government made the announcement for schools and colleges to remain shut as a tribute to Karnataka seer Siddeshwara Swami. Karnataka government on Monday announced a school holiday in Vijaypura. 81-year-old Senior Lingayat pontiff and famous Karnataka seer Siddeshwara Swami passed away after a prolonged illness on Monday.

"Siddheshwar Swamiji of Jnanayogashram, Vijayapura passed away on Monday. State honor will be provided for the last rites of Siddeshwara Swamiji. Holiday has been declared for schools and colleges in Vijayapura on Tuesday (3rd January): Karnataka govt,” an official tweet by ANI reads.

Tributes from all over the world are pouring in for the late Siddheshwara Swami Ji. “Paramapujya Sri Siddheshwara Swami Ji will be remembered for his outstanding service to society,” tweeted PM Narendra Modi. CM Basavaraj Bommai said, “Deeply saddened to learn of the passing away of the most venerable Sri Siddeshwara Swamiji of Jnana Yogaashrama, Vijayapura, who worked to uplift mankind through his discourses.’’
