The Education and Health departments of Kerala have jointly prepared these guidelines after an extensive discussion. The draft will be presented to the Chief Minister soon for final approval.

Kerala School Reopening: The state government of Kerala has decided to reopen schools in the state from November 1. According to the decision taken, the schools would reopen starting November following strict adherence to COVID 19 protocols. Meanwhile, new guidelines have also been released by the state government for offline campus teaching to be followed. According to the new SoP, schools have been directed to allow only 10 students per class to attend offline classes at a time. However, the rule implies to only lower primary students, up to Class 4.

For Classes 5 to 12, 20 students per class would be allowed to attend on-campus physical classes at a time. These are among the primary guidelines on Kerala School Reopening that the State Government has drafted. The Education and Health departments of Kerala have jointly prepared these guidelines after an extensive discussion. The draft will be presented to the Chief Minister soon for final approval. The major highlights of the guideline include: In order to avoid overcrowding, the committee has also proposed a staggered re-opening of classes and scheduling different class timings.

The guidelines also include no serving of afternoon meals inside the premises. Only one student would be allowed to sit on a bench up to Class 7. However, two students can sit on one bench for classes eight and above. Schools have been asked to disinfect classrooms at regular intervals and set up health checkup centres. Wearing masks, using hand sanitizers and following social distancing is mandatory.
