Attri, former chair of Indian Ocean Studies (CIOS) at the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), and an alumnus of the Kurukshetra University has been appointed as the director of the international center.
Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva has said that the University is establishing an International Centre for Indo-Pacific Studies at the varsity to contribute to global peace and prosperity. The VC said the center had been established on the proposal that was submitted by Prof V N Attri.
“The establishment of this think-tank is important for providing necessary inputs to the government for improving trade relations and geostrategic diplomacy,” he added.

The VC said: “The International Centre for Indo- Pacific Studies aims at promoting academic and research standing of the university at a global level by enhancing capacity-building and generating decent employment opportunities for the students of the university. It will also promote inter-disciplinary research for faculty members of the university.”
"The main aim of the centre is to evolve the construction of Indo-Pacific as a new paradigm of peace, security and sustainable development focusing on trade and investment, maritime connectivity, maritime security, climate change, cyber security, environmental protection and clean energy," he added.
Meanwhile, Kurukshetra University VC also announced that it is all set to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) from August this year. In his address during the opening of a five-day workshop on the implementation of NEP 2020, the VC applauded Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and hailed him for his vision to implement the NEP in entire Haryana by 2025.
He said that "KU has already made the complete framework for the implementation of NEP. KU is implementing NEP 2020 in its undergraduate programmes from August 2022 session and it will be implemented in all its affiliated colleges from the 2023 session."
