The Education Minister of Assam, Dr Ranoj Pegu has laid the foundation stone for a government law college in the Cachar district, read here to know more.
The Assam government has decided to establish nine new law colleges in the state. In line with that, the Education Minister of Assam, Dr Ranoj Pegu has laid the foundation stone for a government law college at Chiripool under Lakhipur assembly constituency in Cachar district in presence of MLA Kaushik Rai and Cachar Deputy Commissioner Rohan Kumar Jha.
"There are a handful of government law colleges in the state. Therefore, the government has decided to build nine new law colleges. A sum of INR 15.50 crore has been allocated for the construction of law college in Lakhipur," said the minister, as reported by The Sentinel.
"According to the decision of the state government, the foundation stone of one of the nine government law colleges of the state was laid in Lakhipur today," he added.
Among the nine new government law colleges in the state, one will be constructed in Lakhipur in Barak Valley, added the state education minister.
MLA Kaushik Rai credited Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for the establishment of new law colleges in the state and Ranoj Pegu for starting the setting up of law colleges in Lakhipur. He also requested the education minister to set up a degree college in the South Lakhipur area and to introduce a science department at Nehru College and an art department at Nehru Higher Secondary School. On MLA Rai's plea, the education minister has assured all cooperation for the development of the educational institutions in Lakhipur.
Dr Ranoj Pegu visited 104 Pailapool model lower primary school
During his two days visit to Silchar, he visited the 104 Pailapool model lower primary school under the Lakhipur education block and participated in the evaluation phase. He also participated in the school's morning assembly along with MLA Rai.
During the evaluation phase, the education minister asked students questions from their textbooks and reportedly received satisfactory answers from the students. He had an interactive session with students and teachers and exchanged ideas with them.
