CLAT 2020 Instructions for candidates - Chhattisgarh centre, PWD, COVID Positive, and Things allowed

CLAT Consortium has released revised instructions for candidates taking CLAT 2020 on September 28 in a socially distanced CBT mode at the test centres. Therefore, candidates taking CLAT 2020 need to go through the exam day guidelines for Chhattisgarh centre, PWD category, COVID Positive, and things allowed inside the examination hall. 

Some of the important notifications for CLAT 2020 are:

CLAT 2020 Candidates from Chhattisgarh state 

Candidates who'll be appearing for CLAT 2020 in Chhattisgarh ave to take passes to move amidst COVID-19 lockdown across the state. Therefore, the consortium is in discussion with the state government to consider CLAT 2020 admit card as the movement pass for travelling to and from the test centres. 

According to the official notification, "In the wake of the lockdown announced in Chhattisgarh, the CLAT Consortium is working with the state government to allow candidates to travel to the test centres by using their admit card as pass. Candidates are requested to carry their admit card and photo identity card and produce them when requested."  

COVID Positive candidates not allowed to take CLAT 2020

CLAT Consortium is following protocols of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD) as issued for containment of COVID-19 virus in view of public health and safety. Therefore, candidates who are COVID-positive and, have been quarantined or are in self-isolation are not allowed to take the exam. 

According to the official notification, "This is to notify that all candidates who have been tested positive and are under medical surveillance or in isolation will not be permitted to take the CLAT 2020 examination scheduled to be held on 28th September 2020.

Use of calculator in CLAT 2020 CBT mode exam 

Since CLAT 2020 is a CBT mode exam therefore, candidates will be not be allowed to use a calculator or any similar devices. Moreover, there won't be any on-screen calculator unlike mock tests, which was provided without approval.   

According to the official notification, "This is to notify that use of a calculator (onscreen, manual, watch or in any other way) in the CLAT examination has not been permitted in the previous years and it will not be permitted in this year’s CLAT 2020 examination too. The on-screen calculator in the mocks was inadvertently displayed without the approval from the executive committee or the convenor."

PWD category candidates  

Candidates from PWD category taking CLAT 2020 on September 28 need to arrange their own Scribe/Reader/Lab Assistant and inform the Regional Coordinator before September 25. The Scribe/ Reader/Lab Assistant should be below the qualification of the test-taking candidates.  Moreover, candidates must carry their PWD certificates to te exam centre along wit CLAT 2020 admit card.  

According to the official notification, "All the candidates are duly informed that because of the Corona Pandemic, the candidate will have to arrange his/ her own Scribe at own cost and inform the Regional Coordinator by 25th September 2020.

Please take a print out of Appendix – I and Appendix-II form and mail it to the Regional Coordinators office along with relevant medical records by 25th September 2020"

Exam Day Instructions for CLAT 2020: 

Besides the above-mentioned instructions, candidates takin CLAT 2020 should be careful of the following: 

  • Things allowed inside the examination hall - Candidates will be allowed to take these items inside the test centres: Blue/Black Ball Pen, CLAT 2020 Admit Card, A valid Photo ID Proof issued by the Government, Transparent water bottle, Own mask, gloves and personal hand sanitizer (50ml), Self-Health Declaration, Disability Certificate for PWD candidates (if belonging to PWD category) 
  • Reporting to the exam centre - Candidates should reach the exam centre at least an hour before the examination timings. The examination will begin at 2:00 pm and, will be over by 4 pm. 
  • Using rough sheets - Candidates using the extra sheet for calculations have to dump it in the garbage bin outside the examination hall only.
