In Indore, a Grade A+ accredited university, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) will withhold first-semester exam results of law students of four colleges. The university has taken this step as the four colleges could not submit their letter of recognition from the Bar Council of India (BCI), despite repeated reminders from the university.
As per the reports, the four colleges are Guru Govind Singh College, Indore Christian College, one law college in Khargone and one more.
DAVV announced plans to promote law students in odd semesters that is in the first, third, fifth, seventh and ninth semesters on the basis of assignment marks. The university has directed the colleges to give assignments to these semesters students in BA-LLB, BBA-LLB, LLB, BCom-LLB, LLM, courses in July. The colleges are expected to submit the marks of the assignment to the DAVV from next week and results could be declared by August 10.
Recently, the examination department asked the academic department for recognition letters of all law colleges under DAVV. Out of 12 law colleges, only 8 could provide the recognition letter from BCI. This led to the drastic decision by the university which will result in the withholding of results of nearly 1800 students.
